Aberdeen, WA (PressExposure) March 12, 2008 -- When Nancy Dirubbo graduated from Northeastern University’s Family Nurse Practitioner Program in 1978 she had a vision…she wanted to help people. And as she began practicing full time as a Nurse Practitioner she fulfilled that dream. Seven years later she did something that was rarely done at the time; she opened her own independent practice. In 1985, the Laconia Women’s Health Center in Laconia, New Hampshire opened its’ doors to the public. Today, 23 years later, Ms. Dirubbo runs one of the oldest Nurse Practitioner owned and operated primary care practices in the United States.

Health care providers know that operating your own practice in today’s health care climate is challenging and time consuming to say the least. Yet Ms. Dirubbo continues to find time to provide continuing education programs to other health professionals throughout the US. She has been published by various journals such as, the American Journal of Nursing and The Nurse Practitioner Journal, and has been featured on 60 minutes.
