Placerville, CA (PressExposure) May 26, 2007 -- Ms Lois Kearney, daughter of Michael and Jill Kearney of Placerville, California, received the Golden Star Student Award for her personal success during the 2006-2007 school year. The award which is given by the El Dorado County Office of Education in conjunction with the Dorado County Public Schools and the El Dorado County Fair arrived at her home just before the beginning of the 2007 Memorial Day weekend.

Her aunt, Kim Kearney, from the Los Angeles area, and her grandmother, Elizabeth Kearney, who lives in the Bay Area, commemorated the event by having a vase of flowers, balloons, and a tiny bear delivered along with their congratulations. A future star in the family, Lois' younger sister, Eileen, also received a commemorative balloon.

Lois was thrilled by both the award and the gifts. She and her family will be spending the Memorial Day holiday in Shasta at a family reunion at a historic site that has been in her mother's family for several generations. Approximately 100 family members are expected to gather for the holiday celebration, and the week's festivities are a perfect accompaniment for this little seven year olds prestigious award.
