DSV Increases Multimodal CapacityLondon, United Kingdom (PressExposure) July 23, 2008 -- With the acquisition of 450 brand new 45 foot containers, DSV Road has taken an important step to further increasing the range of multimodal services offered to customers. Best know for the 12,500 or so trailers it operates on its pan European transport system, DSV already operates 900 containers and the new additions will support DSV’s growing unaccompanied business. “While trailer transport remains the cornerstone of our business, container transport opens up a wider range of multimodal options,” explains Rene Falch Olesen, Managing Director of DSV Road Limited in the UK. “We have experienced steady growth of our unaccompanied container transport business as customers take advantage of the increased flexibility containers offer on certain routes.” Particularly in the UK, companies are evaluating their transport options to see where they can reduce their environmental footprint. Moves to short-sea transport, rail and even barge are proving popular as businesses try to minimize their road mileage. Container transport provides greater flexibility when utilizing and combining different multimodal methods.
