Dermaplaning is a skin resurfacing procedure that scrapes away the top layer of dead epidermal cells and fine vellus hair, gently removing outer layers of dead cells. As a result, skin care products penetrate better and the underlying layer of smooth, clear, undamaged skin emerges. This procedure is most often used to smooth out small facial wrinkles that appear in the upper layers of the epidermis and underlying dermis.
